I often find that I spend money like it’s going out of fashion. Anyone know of a good method to save/budget your cash or do I just need to learn to say no to going out!?

    I am exactly the same!

I have set up monthly payments into my savings account, so when I get paid I will never spend all of it. Nights out are expensive and nobody wants to stay at home if all your mates are going out. Things like avoiding taxis have helped me save a few quid. I often leave my card at home so that I can’t use it when I’m out, just take the money I have in my purse :)

As soon as I get paid I put a small amount into savings – or more if there is something in particular I need! I find it helps me to forget about it if I put it in a savings account, rather than seeing it on the balance of my current account every time I go to draw money out or check my statements. When going out I do the same as Sam and leave my card at home – as long as you take enough money with you in case you have a drama with a taxi – then this is the best way to ensure you don’t spend a ridiculous amount of money once you’re drunk and think you don’t care!
